what’s on your mind?

It has been a busy winter!  Never mind the holiday season…that is another story!

I hope that it was enjoyed for what it was suppose to be: the celebration of Christ’s

birth.  Enough said.

There has been a lot of illness going on since before Christmas!  I had it at my job.

And I had it personally!   It changed a few things – I had to temporarily work

at a different location.

It was harder work and made me very tired at the end of the day.  Add to that the

days are shorter and with the earlier darkness I didn’t get to do much besides their

general care!

I am feeling overwhelmed with 4 of them!  Last week there was a very warm day

and most of the snow melted.  The old pony saw that grass and would not stay in

the fence!  If she could eat enough hay…but she can’t.  And she isn’t eating enough

beet pulp.  She just wants senior feed and I cannot afford to feed her exclusively

that!  I am an ordinary horse owner; and not an independently wealthy one at that!

Decisions are going to have to be made.  My hay is running out.  I thought I would

have enough for winter-but it doesn’t look that way right now!  That is because I

didn’t plan on having my sister’s horse here!  I told my husband that next winter

there will only be 2 horses:  Brego and Ginger!  I hope I can talk my sister into re-

homing Stormy.  She is 26 years old and it is going to be hard to place her. I am

hoping for a miracle!

I love horses and I want to have time to enjoy them too!  I have to be realistic and

know what I can also afford.  I need time to be able to spend time with my new

grandson in Rochester!  I still have my granddaughter who I am absolutely crazy

about!  Yes, I am feeling overwhelmed!

I love the change of seasons- I really do!  The snow looks so clean and covers every-

thing with a white blanket!  But it isn’t always the best for riding.  Anyways, it is too

dark to ride after I come home from work.  I need to be creative and motivated to

think of simple tricks to teach Brego and Ginger!  I know they would enjoy it!

I  also think that with 2 less equines here I would have more time to spend with

the training and enjoying Brego and Ginger!
